Okay, folks, I took yesterday off and actually slept an additional four hours once I deposited my son at school. I was rather amazed, but I'm glad I stayed home and went back to bed in spite of it being a balmy 50 *+ here yesterday. I didn't do anything much beyond running my kiddo to the eye doctor and to Walgreens for valentines and extra strength headache relief. i went to bed with the fringe of a headache.
I woke up with a headache. Again.
this is prime wallowing material, people. "Oh poor me. My head hurts for the 3rd day in a row. I better rest." Well, no, I'd better not. The scale is ugly. I skipped WW because I didn't feel well and had a meeting at Hugh's school last night. Scale. Ugly. My "poor me" knocked me into old bad habits so fast, it made my head spin. Now I have to undo that. In spite of doing almost 2 hours of exercise on Sunday and 50 minutes Saturday, the other 4 days I just sat because of my exhaustion really hurt my stats. Oh and eating like an idiot helped as well.
So when I woke up this morning with the headache, I had a choice: change the alarm clock to give me 30 more minutes of sleep OR get my butt up and get my job done.
Giddyup!
I walked my K9 units for 30 minutes this morning. I did more than that. I jogged them. The bike trail was rather dicey and icey once I got out too far to turn back. I found that taking shorter steps helped me avoid slippage, so I took lots of them at a fast pace and ended up pretty much jogging a lot of the time. I didn't fall down either. (whew! I have visions of me lying there until the sun comes up and someone happens to look out there or see my dogs or hear them going off while I flounder on the snow and ice....not pretty.) My head still hurts, of course, but I cannot let that get in my way. The very last thing I need is one more excuse not to take the best care possible of me.
When I get home, I will do the elliptical even if my head hurts. and if I can get going soon enough, I will walk the dogs again.
One of my best people friends who lives in Atlanta had to put down his best-dog-friend of 16 years yesterday. Peanut was a puggle living on a farm with an abusive S.O.B. who was going to shoot him. Bob and Chris were hesitant, but they wanted that dog to live. Peanut led a pampered life in Atlanta with regular walks around the golf course, frequent trips to the mountains and back to Wisconsin. He lost an eye to cancer or something and later went blind in the other eye. His hearing went in the last few years. That little dog was very resilient and under the loving care of his two seeing-eye-guys lived more than a dog's life. Peanut was a faithful companion to Bob and Chris, and I feel the pain of their loss clear up here in Wisconsin. If you are reading this and have a dog - get out and walk today, and dedicate your walk to the memory of Peanut.
Make it a great day, people. The choice is yours.

You made me cry, Linda! I love my doggies, and I WILL walk them today, and not take them for granted. I had a little dog a few years back who also lost her eyes one at a time, and she did great. When she lost her hearing it got harder, but we managed. So I really feel for those guys.
And you, I wonder that you are not so tired every day, with the schedule that you manage to keep up. Just make sure you keep stocked up on all your favorite 'healthy' foods so that when you want to indulge it is not really a bad thing.
Glad your back at that exercising, hope you get to feeling back to normal soon. Those headaches can be a bummer... will be taking my K9's for a walk in memory of Peanut!
Congrats on getting out of bed ... sometimes I just can't! Vee at www.veegettinghealthy.blogspot.com
I'm so sorry you missed most of the gorgeous day.
Happy for you though that you are working through the headache. Nice determination.

I was just thinking of feeling lazy this afternoon - and you knocked me out of that - thanks :)
