Yawn, stretch, scratch scratch - It's Monday?

Where do the weekends go? It was a nice weekend.

Friday night I went to Youth Football Night for Hugh. They had a tailgate. Then the youth fb kids made a "tunnel" for the high school team to run through. At half-time the teams got to run 100 yards across the field. I saw some folks I hadn't seen in a while which was a bonus. I also saw Hugh hang out with one of the boys from school instead of sticking with me. That made my heart sing. He is so shy, but he appears to be coming along.

Saturday was breakfast with 2 friends in town from Atlanta. Lovely to see them. Hugh had his first big game. My brother made it as did Hugh's father. It was exciting and ended in a tie. Thank goodness it was 6 to zero. . . That would have been ugly to deal with in the car, believe me. We then went to the gym after grabbing some lunch. Came home and had a nap. Later we went out to a friend's house and picked apples. Some day they will become applesauce. I made a little last night - ohhhhh yum!

Sunday was tomato canning day. We used my gas grill with a burner and my brothers turkey cooker and did almost all the work outside. It was a nice relief to not have that mess in my house. We bought these 'maters. Our garden 'maters aren't quite ripe, so we will have another canning session in the near future. Probably will just can juice next time. I also made chili and my brother helped Hugh make a cake (awwwwwwwww!) for my mom's birthday. She came over and cleaned while we canned, and we had a nice b-day lunch.

Sadly, I found out that one of my former students died on Friday. She was 19 and a lost soul. She still lived at home. It was a drug overdose, though unclear if accidental or not. She was the kind of kid who wanted to do everything her way. Her way didn't fit "in the world". She knew it and turned to drugs. One sad thing is that she made it abundantly clear on a Facebook page that she was doing coke and meth - she posted pictures and captions about it - and no one did anything to help her. Turning her in the cops would have been a blessing. Would I have? I don't know. After going thru my nieces' drama and now this - I would. Gotta love the sting of 20/20 hingsight.

Monday is for compliments....the Lord made a beautiful morning - the doggies and I loved our walk in the 54* temps. You all look marvelous right now - no matter what state you are in (ie - condition, not locality) as long as you are here reading, you rock!

Pass a compliment along to someone else today. Random acts of complentary behavior for everyone. On me.

Make it a great day.

Monday is for compliments!
You are an amazing person, a wonderful mother, a caring aunt, an exceptional blogger friend.

I lost 5lbs this week! Yeah for me!

Sorry to hear about the loss of your student. It's hard to see people go down hill like that. All you can do is hope and pray.

Take care of yourself.

*so sad* about the 19 year old.

That's all I got right now.

Life should be that short.
